Fox red golden retrievers · Puppy waiting list

Fox red golden retriever puppy availability

Catrigg litters are planned rather than constantly available, so puppies are normally placed with families through the waiting list.

If you’re interested in a future Catrigg puppy, the first step is simply to get in touch. You can talk about what you’re looking for, upcoming litters and how the waiting list works before deciding whether you want to go any further.

How the Catrigg waiting list works

Joining the waiting list does not begin with making a payment. We prefer to speak to prospective owners first so you can ask questions, discuss what you’re looking for and understand what to expect from a Catrigg puppy.

1. Send us an enquiry

Fill in the short form below with your contact details and whether you’re currently looking for a male or a female. There is no deposit or commitment at this stage.

2. Have a conversation

A member of our team will give you a call to talk through what you’re looking for, your circumstances and the litters we have planned. It’s also your opportunity to ask anything you want to know before joining the waiting list.

3. Join the waiting list

If you decide you would like to go ahead, we add you to the Catrigg waiting list. There is no payment at this stage — joining the list is free.

4. A puppy is allocated to you

Once a litter has arrived and you have had a viewing, a puppy is allocated to you. That is the point the £500 deposit is paid, and it comes off the price of your puppy.

Waiting times will vary depending on when litters are planned, how many puppies arrive and how many families are already waiting. We can explain where things currently stand when you speak to us rather than promising a collection date before a litter has arrived.

The deposit

Joining the waiting list is free. The £500 deposit is only paid once a puppy has been allocated to you, which happens after a litter has arrived and you have had a viewing. It is deducted from the eventual price of your puppy.

We will talk you through the price of a puppy when we ring you back, so you can ask about the litter at the same time.

What happens when puppies arrive?

Once a litter has arrived, we keep families updated as the puppies grow. When it is time to visit and choose your puppy, a member of our team will arrange a suitable time for you to come to Catrigg, meet the litter and see the puppies with their mother.

Your puppy can then be identified with its own coloured collar as it continues to grow at Catrigg before collection. No Catrigg puppy leaves for its new home before eight weeks old.

Visiting the puppies

Once a litter has arrived, families on the waiting list can arrange a visit with us. You’ll be able to see the puppies with their mother, meet the Catrigg dogs and spend some time getting to know the litter before your puppy eventually comes home.

Visits are arranged directly with us rather than through an online booking system, so give us a call or wait for us to arrange a suitable time with you.

Puppies stay with their mother at Catrigg until they are ready to leave at eight weeks or older.

More than waiting for collection day

The weeks between birth and collection are an important part of how we raise a Catrigg litter. As the puppies develop, they are gradually introduced to handling, different surfaces, household noises, outdoor areas and other everyday experiences.

We also begin introducing things such as travelling in a car, time on a lead and toileting outdoors before the puppies leave. Families receive updates as their puppy grows, and we remain available if you need advice after collection.

Puppy availability and waiting list questions

Does Catrigg have puppies available now?

Catrigg litters are planned rather than constantly available, so availability changes throughout the year. The best way to find out about current or upcoming litters is to send us an enquiry. We can tell you what is currently planned and how the waiting list stands.

How much is the deposit, and when is it paid?

The deposit is £500, and it is paid when a puppy is allocated to you — not to join the waiting list, which is free. It is deducted from the eventual price of your puppy.

The deposit is non-refundable, so please read the terms and conditions and speak to us before paying it.

Does the £500 deposit reserve a particular puppy?

Yes. By the time the deposit is paid, a specific puppy has been allocated to you — that happens after a litter has arrived and you have had the opportunity to visit. Joining the waiting list beforehand costs nothing and does not tie you to a puppy.

How long will I have to wait for a puppy?

There is no fixed waiting time because it depends on planned litters, litter sizes and how many families are already waiting. We can give you a better idea of the current position when you speak to us.

Can I choose whether I want a male or a female?

You can tell us whether you would prefer a male or a female when you enquire. If you do not have a preference, you can say that too. Availability will depend on the puppies born in each litter.

Can I visit the puppies before collection?

Yes. Once a litter has arrived, we arrange visits so families can meet the puppies with their mother and see the Catrigg dogs.

At what age can a puppy leave Catrigg?

Catrigg puppies do not leave before eight weeks old. During those first weeks, we gradually introduce the puppies to handling and everyday experiences to help prepare them for moving into their new homes.

Do I have to pay anything when I first enquire?

No. Sending an enquiry simply starts the conversation with us. Joining the waiting list is free as well — there is no payment until a puppy has been allocated to you.

Start with a conversation

If you’re considering a Catrigg puppy, you don’t need to make a decision today. Send us your details, ask the questions you need to ask and find out what litters are planned. If Catrigg feels right for you, a member of our team can then explain the next step for joining the waiting list.
