The dogs behind Catrigg Retrievers

Meet the Catrigg retrievers

Every Catrigg litter begins with the dogs we know day in, day out. Meet the girls at The Old Dairy and get to know a little about their individual personalities, from the quieter characters to the ones who would happily spend all day running across the fields.

These are the dogs that make Catrigg what it is.

Misty, a fox red golden retriever, resting on the grass in the Yorkshire Dales

Misty

Fox Red Golden Retriever · Born 23 January 2023

Misty is one of the calmer characters at Catrigg. Gentle and affectionate, she has an easy-going nature and is happiest when she is around people and the other dogs. She also has a naturally attentive side that comes through particularly when she has puppies of her own.

Willow, a fox red golden retriever, standing in long grass on a bright day

Willow

Fox Red Golden Retriever · Born 23 January 2023

Willow has plenty of personality and a few quirks of her own. She is affectionate, entertaining and very much an individual. She brings plenty of character to the Catrigg pack and is rarely far from the action.

Harriet, a fox red golden retriever, alert and looking towards the camera

Harriet

Fox Red Golden Retriever · Born 15 March 2023

Harriet combines plenty of energy outdoors with a very affectionate nature at home. She is active, fit and always ready to get moving, but just as happy being close to people once the day's excitement is over.

Megan, a fox red golden retriever, mid-stride across an open field

Megan

Fox Red Golden Retriever · Born 15 March 2023

Megan likes to be involved in whatever is happening. She is energetic, extremely people-focused and rarely wants to be left behind. Give her an open field and she will happily stretch her legs, but she is just as keen to stay close to the people around her.

Lucy, a dark fox red golden retriever, sitting calmly in the sunshine

Lucy

Fox Red Golden Retriever · Born 15 March 2023

Lucy is a loyal, people-orientated member of the Catrigg family with a particularly dark red coat. She likes being close to people and has a gentler side that balances the energy she brings when she is outdoors.

Margot, a wavy-coated fox red golden retriever, greeting the camera head on

Margot

Fox Red Golden Retriever · Born 13 February 2024

Margot is one of Catrigg's more mischievous characters. Affectionate, energetic and usually among the first to come and say hello, she enjoys attention, getting outside and, given the opportunity, finding a muddy puddle.

Hollie, a soft-coated fox red golden retriever, lying down with a gentle expression

Hollie

Fox Red Golden Retriever · Born 13 February 2024

Hollie has a softer, affectionate nature at home but still enjoys getting out and playing with the rest of the dogs. She is people-focused, loyal and equally comfortable settling down for attention or heading outside with the pack.

Nora, a thick-coated fox red golden retriever, with a bright and expressive face

Nora

Fox Red Golden Retriever · Born 18 June 2024

Nora has plenty of energy when she is outdoors and a much calmer side once she is back home. She is confident, playful and affectionate, with the kind of personality that can switch quickly from exploring outside to settling down beside you.

Skye, a glossy-coated fox red golden retriever, standing alert in the open air

Skye

Fox Red Golden Retriever · Born 18 June 2024

Skye is athletic, alert and always ready to get outside. She enjoys activity and exploring with the other dogs, but once the day slows down she is equally fond of attention and settling close to people.

They are part of the family

The dogs at Catrigg are not just names on pedigrees. They live at The Old Dairy and are part of the everyday routine there. Their individual personalities, behaviour and temperament are things we get to see for ourselves rather than judge from paperwork alone.

That matters when raising puppies because we know the dogs behind each litter and can talk you through them directly. When you visit a litter, you can also meet the Catrigg dogs for yourself.

Knowing the dogs behind a litter matters

When you’re choosing a puppy, it is worth looking beyond the puppies themselves. Seeing the mother, understanding what she is like and being able to speak directly to the person who lives with and cares for her gives you useful context about the litter you are considering.

Once puppies arrive at Catrigg, they are with us for at least their first eight weeks. That gives us time not only to watch them develop, but to begin introducing them to the sights, sounds and experiences they will meet when they leave.
